DOMAIN HUNTER
[ CONCEPT_VISUALIZATION ]

The Idea
Domain Hunter started with a simple question: how fast can you find a short, brandable domain that is actually still available?
Most domain tools are built around checkout, not around the hunt. Availability is buried under pricing pages, upsells, or account walls. I wanted a small, focused utility that could generate short names, verify them against the registry, and get out of the way.
The interface is Vietnamese-first — built for the local indie and developer community — while the engine works with any TLD.
How It Works
Domain Hunter combines two public signals:
RDAP. For TLDs with an RDAP endpoint — .com, .net, .org, .ai, .dev, .app, .xyz and more — the app queries the registry directly. A 200 means the domain is registered; a 404 means it was not found. This is the most reliable signal and keeps everything client-side.
DNS-over-HTTPS. For TLDs without RDAP, such as .io and .vn, the app queries SOA records through Cloudflare or Google DoH. NXDOMAIN is treated as “likely available” with a lower confidence score.
Results are cached for six hours and retried on 429/5xx responses to keep repeated scans fast and respect public rate limits.
What It Does
- Short name generator — 2–5 character names by pattern: letters, CVCV, alphanumeric, or digits.
- Name blender — combine a keyword with prefixes and suffixes to create brandable alternatives.
- Bulk scan — paste a list and check domains in parallel batches.
- Domain score — a 0–100 signal based on length, structure, pronounceability, and TLD.
- Watchlist & export — save promising names locally, copy them, or export available results to CSV.
- Direct registration links — open the exact domain on Porkbun or Namecheap.

The Stack
Domain Hunter is a static web app built with React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, and Vite, deployed on Firebase Hosting. All checks happen in the browser: no backend, no queue, no account system. The only network requests are the domain lookups themselves.
The result is a small tool that loads fast, works on mobile, and is free to use.
